Mission:
To provide a creative environment for all youth using art as a tool for learning problem-solving, goal-setting, community values, and increased self esteem.
Key ideas:
• Art is essential and valuable experience for children and our community.
• Art projects focus on the creative process.
• Art on the Edge provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to grow and thrive.
Need:
Art is essential to the development of healthy kids and a healthy community. While we have expanded our summer program, we are still turning away kids. Access and participation in the arts have been correlated with lower drop out rates, higher community involvement and more successful kids.
Accomplishments:
AOE has provided free art classes in the Coeur d’ Alene community for 13 years. We have worked with over 3000 children. We provide after school classes in Couer d' Alene and Post Falls and offer a full summer program. This year, Art on the Edge completed its second full summer program 8 weeks of camps and workshops.
Community support:
Art on the Edge is a community program. Much of our accomplishments are owed to working with our community. We work with other non-profits, local artists, NIC, public schools and many dedicated parents and volunteers.
WHAT WE NEED:
Funds are needed for operating costs, supplies, and instructors. Volunteers are always a welcome and appreciated part of our program. Artists, teachers, caring parents are all welcome to spend some time with the program.
